Hanging up our farmer's hat...

It is with great sadness that Steve and I have decided to hang up our farmer's hat. We have had a horribly rough few days dealing with goats. On Friday a neighborhood dog snuck its way into our property while I was gone and chewed on our sweet Mala goat. Mala was always the "goat in charge" and I know she was protecting her buddy Nanny. I was called at Java Time by a motorist who saw the ordeal and my amazing dad and brother rushed up to the house to help. Sadly, Mala had been chewed on pretty badly, but was still coherent. A friend of ours came up to assess the damage and suggested how to care for her the next few days. This morning, Steve woke up to find that Mala was no longer in pain, and that this was going to be the last grave he was going to dig for farm animals. We are hoping to find the rest a loving home where there are no crazy dogs in sight. We adored having goats. They are so sweet and loving so we are truly sad to see them leave.

  1. I am SO sorry! Poor Steve! It is the hardest thing to love and care for animals and to lose them. With or without goats, Steve will remain our 'old MacDonald'. Kisses and Huggies to the Hilltop!

Oh, and hurry up Zach! Don;t you know we are all waiting?

  2. OH NO! I am so sorry to hear this.

Who are the crazy's with the crazy dogs living by you???

Seriously, I was hoping your absence had something to do with a trip to the hospital. So sorry to hear about your sweet Mala.

I hope that you are able to find them loving homes, where you can go and visit often! :)

  3. We did find them good homes. We were sad to see them leave, but are glad that we are not putting them in harm's way any longer. Thanks for the hugs! :)
